MADLIB THE BEAT KONDUCTA

Madlib... man where do I start? This dude has been makin beats for somethin like a decade now. His parents were musicians and his younger brother's even signed to the same label (Stones Throw Records). He's released a number of albums under various aliases (Yesterdays New Quintet, Quasimoto, DJ Rels) as well as a collaboration album with both MF DOOM (as MADVILLAIN) and with the great late J Dilla of Slum Village (as Jaylib).  He's produced entire albums for some artists, dropped a remix of the Blue Note catalogue (Shades of Blue) and even released solo EPs as each of the 'members' of YNQ.  There's a bunch of projects I'm leaving out, but the reason I'm makin this post is cause he just put out 3 new albums in the past like, 2 months? He collab'ed with J Rocc to put together Beat Konducta Volumes 5 & 6 (a tribute to Dilla) and they do not disappoint. In between the 5th and 6th volume releases he also dropped WLIB King of the Wigflip (Madlib on the beats featuring artists such as Guilty Simpson, Defari, Prince Po and more) Give these tracks a listen n go n cop
all three albums.

Throw a lil bonus in there, this is the first Madlib beat I ever heard.  It was used by some local kids from the city in their skate video like 5 or 6 years ago?

PORK SODA

So, why's the blog named "cure for the wounded knee" you ask? Well, long story short: I have a banged up left knee, n when shit's got me down, I smoke a blunt n listen to music to take my mind off it. Primus played after I listened to Onra yesterday and so thats how I got the name for the blog. Yup, just like that.

Primus (also known for their single "DMV" as well as the theme for Comedy Central's South Park) is led by bass guitarist Les Claypool.  He also did the theme for Seinfeld.

DOO DOO DOO DOO DOO! THATS A AUDIO DAILY DOUBLE

Last night while I was on The Berrics I heard a sample for a track I planned on using in a video myself: Word A' Mouth - Famous Last Words off of Lyricist Lounge Vol. 2 (2000). Damn I love stumbling across samples.

VOTE OBAMA '08!

KILLA PEACH

"Georgia Anne Muldrow's debut album "Olesi" was released on stones throw records in 2006. Inspired by solid '70s soul, free jazz and a bottom-heavy hip-hop thump, georgia paints a unique musical canvas that has the underground stopping to gaze and take it all in.  It's just one 22-year old woman behind such a breadth of sonic expression - she does her own vocals, background vocals AND the beats.

Georgia springs from a family of creative musicians, whose roots run deep in the '60s and '70s progressive jazz scene: her father invented instruments for Eddie Harris, and her mother performed with Pharoah Sanders. Their innovation passed to their daughter, who approaches her labyrinth of keyboards, synthesizers and various instruments with a fresh perspective every time."

The track I posted is from a compilation album titled "From L.A. with Love" featuring artists such as The Gaslamp Killer and Flying Lotus.

WOPBABALUBOP WALOPBAMBOOM!

This is a little video I threw together over summer, composed of unused/throwaway footage from the past year or two. Filmed in Jersey City/ Union City/ West Orange, NJ as well as Queens/ Manhattan, NY. Make sure to watch the vid in high quality (the button is under the video) cause the standard qaulity sucks.

BOUNDLESS BOUNDARIES
